Cindy Cherry, has had many roles in her life. From hockey mom, entrepreneur, major fundraiser to many charitable causes plus blogger and podcaster.  However, this is her first attempt at writing a book that she believes tells a story that needs to be told. However, her backstory is a distant call from being an author. Her love of animals led her into careers such as a veterinarian tech, zoo keeper, racetrack groom, pet store manager, to owning Canada’s first mobile dog grooming service. Years later this led to her establishing Don Cherry’s Pet Rescue Foundation.

Being brought up in the world of hockey Cindy saw all aspects of it and how it affected her home life. From her father being a player and coach to then a broadcaster she witnessed this steady progression. All the while integrating this hockey aspect and her father’s endeavours, to her own fulfilling life. 

From experiencing her parent’s rise through desperate times with little money to becoming Canada’s most recognizable Canadian, Cindy thought it was time that the public knows more about this man and his wife who steered his career.

Though Cindy started to write this book early in 2020, it was not till late 2022 that she got her father’s blessing with some apprehension.  He knew what Cindy wanted to say and would have no qualms about telling it the way it is.  However, with his vast experience in dealing with the press, social media and todays’s society, he knew she was up for either great praise or criticism. He also knew she was her father’s daughter and would welcome such scrutiny.
